butterflies blue flying

Ever since we heard that my brother in law was hospitalised last weekend with severe and unexplained pain not  related to any heart issues we have feared bad news. It looks as though that is what it is.

Last year BIL underwent surgery for lung cancer (life long smoker) and now a bone scan has picked up hot spots in both his shoulders, rib, hip and leg. It is yet to be confirmed by a PET scan, but the doctor has told them that “it is not looking good”.

I am devastated, and I can only try to imagine what BIL and my sister are experiencing now. We are a close and loving clan, and I just want to make this all go away for them, for us.

This is all happening too soon, too fast.

  1. So sorry to read this. You know we have history of this with MIL and FIL passing recently. I truly hope that this can be treated and really do know where you are at the moment. Thinking of you.

  2. Oh my! What a terrible shock this must be for all of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you all – I fear it may be a very difficult road ahead based on my experience here. Bone cancer is very painful.

  3. Oh no, how terrible. I hope your brother-in-law is at least comfortable now. Ss Carol mentioned, bone cancer is painful, but with good pain management the patient can at least rest well and eat.

The next few months will be very hard for you. Know that people who have never met you in person, who live far across the seas, are thinking of you and your brother-in-law and offering their best wishes. And if you need help, do not hesitate to ask. People can be amazingly generous and kind at the most difficult moments.
