Books weeded! I am more than a goddess, I am an heroine too! Enjoying the feeling of superiority that such an accomplishment provides.
Don’t you just love that feeling of superiority that comes from:
A decluttered house,
Completed spring cleaning;
Christmas shopping completed in November;
Making your own bread/jam/stock/sauces.
Any of those things that most mere mortals struggle with, and so do we, most of the time, but every so often we manage to rise above our mediocrity and actually achieve something, not only surprising ourselves, but allowing us to feel the superiority that culminates in comments such as:
Oh, I finished my Christmas shopping for 2014 weeks ago. My gifts are wrapped and hidden in the closet.
Dust? Don’t speak of dust. I completely cleaned my house from roof to basement last weekend, and when I came home from having a facial and massage I noticed there was dust on the mailbox in the drive.
Then you get to swan around your house feeling so superior, that they should sell tickets to watch you parade through your domain.
Well, that is how I feel tonight. Books weeded. Freedom at last!
[I just used the words we and mediocrity together to allow you to bond with me as one of the common people, but we both know there is nothing mediocre about me!]

Lol. Wonderful!
I will have to bask in the feeling vicariously! My books are myriad and dusty!
Having 4 little mess makers in the house means completed tasks are few and far between. Most jobs feel like I’m painting the Forth bridge. I am envious and can only bask in your light.
On those too rare occasions when I actually manage to do enough that it can be seen that I’ve done something, I’ve had that feeling. I love love love feeling so righteous! Oh, by the way – not necessary to use “we” and “mediocrity” together to make me feel better – like you, there is nothing mediocre about me!
Well now that you have some spring-cleaning time on your hands I have a suggestion ……..it will only involve a short 2-hour flight followed by a few weeks work.
My working demands include access to painkillers and sedatives… scotch will be a good start.
Fantastic! You sound much happier than you did the other day. There is something so refreshing about getting rid of stuff, isn’t there?
Crashed down again – read latest post.
Bugger.
You should be proud! Sorting through books is a tough job. I once spent two hours just sorting through mine, and I only got rid of 30 out of over 150. It almost requires an entire week, or just a day of nonstop sorting, no breaks, and late-night hours. Plus it can be dusty work—I can’t imagine doing it in pearls, heels, and a lovely dress.
I hope you were kidding about the Christmas shopping for 2014, however. I used to think people like that were a little too OCD about their holiday planning.
If it can’t be accomplished in pearls, it can’t be done! Rest assured no thoughts of Christmas near or far!
Even better than that feeling, is the one that comes from unpacking all your freshly weeded-down belongings into your fabulous new country home! Then shopping for new things that were weeded out.
Hail Goddess !
I can sponsor an India trip for you…just saying….
Frankly, I’m happy if the trash cans are emptied. But I AM trying to do some cleanup before my surgery so I can get home and say “ahhh”, instead of “oh, shit… not this mess again”
Good planning. Nothing worse than feeling ill and living in a muddle. Best wishes.
