The YouTube generation

Two students walked up to the circulation desk at lunch time to ask if the plastic owl outside the library was a camera. In expectation that it was they had been talking and performing in front of it!

Not quite their 15 minutes of fame.

    • I wish I had thought of that! They are always hanging around after the class bell has gone and I always have to chase them off, and all I could think of was having the Owl screech “the bell has gone, go to class NOW!”

      • Now you’ve got their attention you could use a stuffed owl as a focus for reading circles, story writing competitions and even dance competitions with book token prizes …… like a library mascot…. just a thought :-)

  1. Too Funny!!!!!!!! They have installed cameras in the hallways of our hospital now, so I have to be super careful…I dont want to be seen scratching my behind or anything!

    • I once worked in a bookshop where the owners had installed a camera above the desk where the money was counted. They filmed the previous manager making out with her boyfriend on the desk. She was middle aged.

    • We have a wide screen TV over the circulation desk where we rotate messages (mainly I play the jazz music channel, yes a library with music!) but we could play the film for all to enjoy!

  2. Maybe instead of an owl you need a dragon. When we were kids we always thought the library was the home of dragons. Ratty (soon to be barbecued).
