Cyclone Yasi is now a category 5 cyclone and heading directly towards the area where Mr and Mrs GOF reside. As way of explantion, Yasi covers an area equal to the entire United States. It is expected to cross the coast around about 12am Queensland time, with winds reaching or exceeding 280kl an hour. The eye of the storm is 35km in diamenter and is expected to take an hour to pass.
Their horror has already started, so please keep them in your thoughts, and send them positive energy and comfort.
It’s a monster alright, FD. Hang on, GOF and Mrs GOF.
I just kept thinking of them all day. Our sister school is at Innisfail and people were taking shelter there from early today. I just can’t believe the continual horrors that our state is suffering.
The pictures of the sheer size of the thing are terrifying. I’ll be thinking of Mr and Mrs GOF and hoping that they’ll be ok. Fortunately GOF seems like a wordly wise sort of chap so I imagine he’s taken all the sensible precautions that you can. From then on it’s all down to luck.
yes, he is well experienced in the wild ways of the north, and one can only prepare for the worst and hope for the best…
oh dear..that looks scary.
Stay safe. Hope Mr. and Mrs. GOF stay safe too.
Keep us updated.
I am thinking of them and of everyone down there constantly.
Thank you for keeping us informed. Much love to all in its path.
Yes, thanks for letting us know. Sending good vibes and positive thoughts their way.
Yikes! I hope they (and everyone in Yasi’s path) come through this with minimal damage and injury!
Sometimes I want to scream ‘enough already’. But it does no good. Hang on Queensland, it’s going to be a bumpy night.
ps praying everyone and everything makes it through.
Oh, indeed I shall. Australia’s really been socked this year. I’ve heard about this cyclone and almost feel as though I should run to the basement and cover my head, just in sympathy. This is really horrible.
Enough Already!
Indeed.
Keeping you all in my thoughts.
All that weather energy is a scary, scary thing.
Best of luck to all affected. We’re in for a roller-coaster year(s). There could be more of this if the weather-forecasters are right about La Nina.
Just saw that Yasi was downgraded to a category 3 now finally. I hope that means the worst is over. It’s bedtime in my corner of the world… been thinking of the GOFs all day. I hope we’ll get news from them soon, that they are fine and the house is still standing.
Thanks for letting us know about this. I have been so focused on my tinee tiny part of the world that I was not aware of the cyclone nor the scope of it. I hope that they will be okay.
I don’t know what else to say but thank you FD. The support from blog friends has been so humbling and quite overwhelming. You are all very special people.
