Went to the movies with Daughter2 to watch Love and other drugs with Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway. I didn’t expect it to be based about Anne Hathaway’s character having a major chronic illness so was a little surprised, but it was a very sanitised version of illness. Hathaway made it look almost cool to be ill! I enjoyed it though, perhaps more than Daughter2 who felt that Hathaway’s character didn’t produce empathy in the viewer to understand why Gyllenhaal would give up so much to be with her, but that was more the fault of the script writer, not the issue. In all it was fun, and as we went to a morning session we were home by early afternoon.
We went to Mr and Mrs Boy’s for afternoon tea. Mr FD and Son as well, so it was a full flock of flamingos! We ate yummy tea treats, including mini gelato cones.
The Boys (aka Daughter1 and The Boy) have just had their house painted inside and out. The house is about 1930s vintage and has tongue and groove walls and the original windows. The have chosen lovely colours and it is so peaceful – feels liks a real home sanctuary.

Mrs Boy’s bridal bouquet is finally back from being preserved for eternity.
as I said before…it doesn’t get much better than that!

What a nice day you have had. Just as I am feeling like Busy can not stop for me, I read this! I am positively green with envy….not a pretty sight I tell ya!
If it makes you happy I am back to work Tuesday week! However in the meantime….
Those ice-creams look so tasty! And that house is gorgeous! We have the same style windows, except ours have orange panels.
The windows had their original brass handles but they want to get security screens so they changed the handles to allow the screens to be added – but they have kept the hardware for the future.
The cones were superb. I could have eaten the entire container!
It does sound like you have a wonderful leisurely time FD. Flamingos are entitled to such.
I love her house. I love old houses anyway and it looks like they or someone did a lot of work to that one!
It was a renter until they bought it about 18 months ago. They have gradually been renovating since then, but luckily many of the original features were still in tact.
A friend told me it was Parkinson’s…since I have a friend on the fast decline (she has had it for about 10 years), it didn’t appeal to me. I’m sure it’s inspirational but I’ve got that in front of me, only the personal connection is there, too.
Yes, it is Parkinson, and though they appear to have a couple of real Parkinson suffers in the movie, I did feel that they santised the horror of the disease. But in a positive way, it did make people aware of how the disease robs people of their life. I think too many people think of Parkinson as “that disease where people shake” and are not aware of how insidious it is.
My best friend from school has Parkinson in her family – both her grandmother and mother had/have the condition. Sad.
Very pretty home. Older homes have such a charm to them. Love the stained glass windows.
It is lovely – it was a horrible yellow inside and out before and this is so much nicer, and just soothes the senses.
The house looks lovely. We have walls like that here – they’re a bugger to paint!
They paid professionals – they got inside and out for about $17,000. Some lead paint had to be removed, and the ceilings are high. Some painters wanted as much as $40,000! It was slow, but they’ve done a lovely job.
That movie is on my list to see also!
Love Anne Hathaway!
Those gelato cones look yummmmmmy!
I love Anne Hathway too – I think I will be her when I grow up!
I know have a standing order for the gelato cones!
